About Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra
The Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra dates back to 1765 and is thus one of the world’s oldest orchestras. In 2015 its 250-years anniversary will be celebrated. Edvard Grieg had a close relationship with the orchestra and was its artistic director during the years 1880-82. Andrew Litton was appointed Chief Conductor in 2003 and is now the orchestra’s Music Director until 2015. The Spanish conductor Juanjo Mena is engaged as Principal Guest Conductor and Halldis Rønning Assistant Conductor. Under Litton’s direction the orchestra has increased its international activities through tours, commissions and recording projects.
The orchestra, one of two Norwegian National Orchestras, has 98 players, tours regularly, and participates at the Bergen Festival on an annual basis. During the last few seasons the orchestra has played at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, The Royal Albert Hall (Proms 2007), Musikverein and Konzerthaus in Vienna, Philharmonie Munich, Carnegie Hall in New York and die Philharmonie in Berlin. In the Spring of 2011 the orchestra gave an 11-concert tour of Sweden, Germany and Austria, with concerts in cities including Berlin, Vienna, Munich and Frankfurt. The performances on this site were part of the orchestra´s programme, performed here at their home venue, Grieghallen, on the eve of the tour. In 2012 the orchestra will once again visit the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and the Rheingau festival in Germany, as well as touring Spain with concerts in Madrid and San Sebastian. 2013 takes the orchestra to England.
About Music in Motion
Music in Motion is founded on a passionate love for classical music. Our mission is to bring a live concert experience home to classical music audiences through gripping visuals and top-quality sound. By putting together experts from the fields of classical music and film production, we believe it is possible to create an aesthetic that truly enhances the listening experience.
Each piece of music is different and attaining a critical balance between compelling yet unobtrusive filming is our goal at all times. Every production is an inspiring challenge for us and we truly hope our work touches a nerve in those who watch and listen.
Our mission is not only to create films that move, but to contribute to exposing classical music artists and their performances to a world-wide market. In addition to exposure, every sale of a stream or a download generates a royalty that goes to the artist(s).
